Stays in the Family
Whitefish Bay
As a third-generation Whitefish Bay family, E and R have always loved everything about their hometown. From the iconic Fourth of July celebration and top-rated schools to the walkable neighborhoods and strong sense of community, Whitefish Bay has always held a special place in their hearts. They knew they wanted to raise their family there someday and patiently watched the market, hoping the right opportunity would come along. But with homes consistently selling well over asking price, that dream began to feel increasingly out of reach.
Then, E's grandfather passed away. While it was a difficult loss for the family, it unexpectedly opened the door to an opportunity they had never seriously considered.
When Grandpa's home was listed for sale, E and R assumed it would be beyond their budget. After several meetings together, we carefully evaluated the value of their current home, spoke with their lender, and ran the numbers. To their surprise, purchasing Grandpa's home was actually within reach. Encouraged by what they learned, they decided to submit an offer.
With family involved on both sides of the transaction, everyone was committed to handling the process with professionalism, transparency, and respect. The phone call letting them know, "You got the house!" remains one of our favorite moments.
Today, E and R have made Grandpa's home their own, thoughtfully updating it while honoring the memories it holds. They are now raising their beautiful daughter in the same home that has meant so much to their family for generations. Even better, E's parents live just a few blocks away, making it easy for them to spend time with their granddaughter almost every day—a gift that makes coming home to Whitefish Bay even more meaningful.
